Indigeo : une infrastructure scientifique de données et d'informations géospatialisées sur l'environnement

National audienceAvant même la parution de la directive européenne INSPIRE en mai 2007, le LETG, Unité Mixte de Recherche multi-sites du CNRS (UMR6554) s’était déjà intéressé au catalogage de l’information géographique dans le domaine de l’environnement (Faucher et al., 2008; Gourmelon et al., 2009).C’est grâce à cette expertise ainsi qu’à son investissement dans plusieurs dispositifs scientifiques d’observation de l’environnement côtier (IUEM , ZABrI ) que ce laboratoire a piloté la mise en œuvre d’un portail de données fédératif et interopérable.Indigeo, qui en latin signifie « avoir besoin de… » est une Infrastructure de Données Géographiques (IDG) dédiée à la recherche scientifique et à l’observation de l’environnement dans l’ouest de la France. Elle est constituée d’un catalogue de métadonnée et d’un serveur de données géoréférencées adossés à un portail web disposant d’un visualiseur cartographique. La solution déployée est geOrchestra, une initiative de géoBretagne. Elle basée sur des outils libres (geonetwork, geoserver, openlayers….) et répond aux standards de l’OGC ce qui la rend interopérable avec les IDG régionales, celles des producteurs de référentiels et celles d’autres institutions scientifiques.Afin de répondre à des besoins spécifiques de visualisation des données scientifiques, le choix a été fait de développer un visualiseur complémentaire, ergonomique et évolutif (geoCMS). Parmi ses fonctionnalités originales on peut trouver la prise en charge des données spatio-temporelles, la visualisation sous forme de graphique des séries temporelles issues de capteurs ainsi qu’une organisation en dossiers pour archiver et partager des cartes issues de projets.Indigeo met actuellement à disposition plus de 600 couches d’informations et leur fiche de métadonnées associée, et permet la co-visualisation des données d’une quinzaine d’IDG interopérables. Conformément à la directive INSPIRE ces informations sont accessibles depuis le portail web http://indigeo.fr qui enregistre plus de 3500 visiteurs depuis son ouverture en juin 2013

Role-Playing Game and Learning for Young People About Sustainable Development Stakes: An Experiment in Transferring and Adapting Interdisciplinary Scientific Knowledge

The study refers to the interactions between socio-economic and natural dynamics in an island biosphere reserve by using companion modelling. This approach provides scientific results and involves interdisciplinarity. In the second phase of the study, we transferred knowledge by adapting the main research output, a role-playing game, to young people. Our goal was to introduce interactions between social and ecological systems, coastal dynamics and integrated management. Adapting the game required close collaboration between the scientists and educators in order to transform both its substance and form and to run it with an easy-to-handle ergonomic platform.Children Education, Multi-Agent Environment, Role-Playing Game

MENIR : mémoire environnementale Iroise

International audienceLes acteurs de la recherche utilisent pour leurs travaux de multiples sources d'information, qu'elles proviennent de données d'observation ou de références bibliographiques. L'archivage, le catalogage et la description de toutes ces ressources sont les seuls moyens de les pérenniser, de les échanger et d'en garantir une bonne utilisation. Nous présentons ici une démarche de conception d'un système d'information qui répond à ces besoins en s'appuyant sur les concepts d'une "mémoire environnementale" et sur les normes ISO (série 19100). Afin de fournir un outil respectant l'hétérogénéité naturelle de toutes ces informations et de leurs relations nous avons d'abord construit des modèles UML généralistes, que nous particularisons dans une seconde étape. Ces efforts de modélisation sont concrétisés par une phase d'implémentation appliquée à un observatoire du domaine côtier

Multi-scale modelling for simulating marine activities under heterogeneous environmental constraints

International audienceThis paper describes the concepts behind the implementation of a multi-agents model aimed to explore how marine activities respond to various environmental constraints. The methodology takes advantage on a responsive agent-based structure, and treats the environment as a set of forcing variables (biophysical, socio-economic and regulatory data). A first experiment in the Iroise Sea area shows a great potential in assessing the intensity and the variability of marine activities at different scales level. The whole methodology is presented in this paper in order to completely analyze the contributions and limitations concerning the SIMARIS prototype

Le simulateur DAHU : une plateforme de modélisation des activités humaines en zone côtière

Cette contribution présente un cadre méthodologique appliqué à la zone côtière permettant de simuler le déroulement d’activités humaines dans l’espace et dans le temps dans la perspective d’évaluer leur impact potentiel sur les milieux concernés.Cette démarche repose sur la constitution d’une plate-forme de simulation capable de rendre compte de la variabilité du déroulement d’activités à fort impact environnemental en tenant compte des facteurs environnementaux (physiques, biologiques, météorologique), réglementaires et socio-économiques pouvant influencer leur pratique.This contribution deals with a methodological framework dedicated to long-term changes modelling of the coastal environment under strong human activities influences. Our research is focused on a modeling simulation platform fitted to the analysis of interactions between human activities and environment (Cuq, 2001). It integrates the coupling of quantitative and qualitative models within a Geographic Information System (GIS).The methodology is based on the development of reality models which integrate spatio-temporal constraints (socio-economic, regulation and meteorology) in order to analyse activities progress and impact. This approach also allows to combine simulation results and analyse spatio-temporal interactions between different activities, especially in the aim to highlight strategicals or interests conflicts zones between concurentials activities

The extreme physical properties of the CoRoT-7b super-Earth

International audience► Here, we discuss the extreme physical properties possible for the first characterized rocky super-Earth, CoRoT-7b ( = 1.58 , = 5.7 ). ► We make the working hypothesis that the planet is rocky with no volatiles in its atmosphere, and derive the physical properties that result. ► The dayside is very hot (2500 K at the sub-stellar point) while the nightside is very cold (∼ 50 K). The sub-stellar point is as hot as the tungsten filament of an incandescent bulb, resulting in the melting and distillation of silicate rocks and the formation of a lava ocean. ► These possible features of CoRoT-7b should be common to many small and hot planets, including Kepler-10b. They define a new class of objects that we propose to name ''Lava-ocean planets''

It is thanks to this expertise as well as an involvement in various environmental and coastal observations network (3 sciences of the universe observatories and 2 workshop areas) that the LETG led the implementation of a federative and interoperable web atlas project. Indigeo, which means “to need..” is a Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) dedicated to scientific research and observation of the environment in the west of France. It consists of a catalog of metadata and a geo-referenced data server backed to a web portal with a viewer. The deployed solution is based on geOrchestra open-source tools (geonetwork, geoserver, openlayers ....) an initiative of géoBretagne the regional SDI of britanny, that making it interoperable with national, regional and local institutional and scientific SDI. To respond to the needs of specific scientific data visualization, the choice was made to develop an ergonomic and scalable additional viewer geoCMS. Among its original functionalities there is the support of spatio-temporal data, the display of sensor time series graphs and the ability to generate dedicated portal instances.indigeo is actually constituted of a range of 626 metadata sheets and a warehouse of 599 published information layers.
